Hanane Barakat
MD, MHM
Dr. Barakat is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine. Since 2021, she is the program director of the anesthesia residency, and in May 2022 was appointed interim Chief Medical Officer at LAU
Medical Center Rizk Hospital
Dr. Barakat obtained her MD degree from the Saint Joseph University, where she also completed a four-year residency training in Anesthesiology and intensive care. She then completed specialized training in Anesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care at Rene Descartes University, France.
Dr. Barakat’s interests lie in Quality and Patient Safety. In 2010, she earned a master’s degree in Hospital and Health Management from the École Supérieure des Affaires (ESA), Lebanon.
Medical education and in particular simulation-based education for patient safety in another area of interest for Dr Barakat for which she completed a Clinical Simulation diploma from the LAU. She has worked on the integration of the WHO patient safety curriculum at the medical
school and is responsible for many quality improvement initiatives at the LAU Medical Center Rizk Hospital.
